Sunday Sept. 23, 2018 – 10:45 AM-12:15 PM
with Lily Gershon
From shadow shows to crankies, we’ve learned a lot of tricks and techniques that can bring magic into a shadow performance. Inspired by Richard Bradshaw, we’ve used strings, wires and colors to surprise and delight the audience. We will do a short demo of tricks, including 3 piece puppets, changing faces and hidden pieces, followed by detailed how-to on construction, materials and manipulation. We will finish with a hands on individual project to create and take home.
The goal of this class is to learn how to make shadow shows more dynamic by introducing interesting movement and surprising elements as well as encouraging creative use of materials.
We ask for $3 per person for the hands on activity (optional). This will cover a hands on project with paper, metal wires, wire and wood rods, glue, color materials and string.
